Cochrane Place - Kurseong

Cochrane Place is a nice accommodation on the outskirts of Kurseong. If you drive towards Kurseong through the Pankhabari Road, You will meet Cochrane place on your left just after crossing the famous Makaibari Tea estate and just before reaching the Kurseong main town. An old British Colonial house has been renovated to create this gem.

All the rooms of this hotel provides excellent views of the surrounding mountain range. Inside, the hotel has been tastefully decorated keeping in mind the two major attractions of the region, the Darjeeling Tea and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR).

Stones, logs and cast iron has been sparingly used in the decor. The furnishing in the rooms include antique tables and original British era photographs painstakingly collected by the owners from throughout the hills. Overall the Raj ambiance is unmistakable at Cochrane place.

Chai Country is the café at Cochrane Place. The café provides innumerable variety of tea options and a perfect ambiance for tea lovers.

Day 1:

Arrival at Cochrane Place.
Welcome High Tea served on arrival at hotel.
Enjoy a beautiful and refreshing sunset trail along the St. Mary’s Walk by tall ferns, and pines alongside a waterfall.
British Raj Anglo-Indian Dinner.

Day 2:

Yoga and Meditation session be certified yoga instructor.
Sightseeing visit to Forest Museum in Dowhill and a scenic Tibetan Monastery that is run by Buddhist nuns.
Lunch followed by rest.
Green Tea Facial OR Herbal Massage.
Indian Tandoor Dinner.

Day 3:

Option I

Visit to Ambootia Tea Garden and Factory. This is an organics bio-dynamic tea garden producing some of the world’s finest and most expensive teas.
After factory Visit short walk within the Ambootia garden to the powerful Ambootia Shiv Mandir.
Lunch followed by check-out.

Option II

Visit to Makaibari Tea Factory. This is an organic tea garden.
Lunch followed by check-out.
