Tezu

Tezu is a town in the eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh. It is one of the more developed towns in the Lohit district and also the district headquarter. Tezu is famous for its scenic beauty and lush greenery and beautiful valleys. Parshuram Kund, a popular religious site, is close to Tezu. Every year several thousands of religious Hindus from India, Nepal and other places visit Parshuram Kund, especially for a bath in the Kund during the Makar Sankranti festival. Tezu is situated on the banks of the river Lohit and its elevation is 185 Meters.

Getting There

The first civilian airport of Arunachal Pradesh came up at Tezu and has become operations. The airport is located just 4 Km away from Tezu town and was inaugurated in 2019. However, not too many flights operate from this airport as yet. Dibrugarh (Mohanbari) airport approximately 167 Km away has good connectivity with Guwahati, Kolkata, Delhi, Bagdogra, Imphal and Dimapur. The other major airport in the area is Guwahati Airport about 630 km away. Tinsukia (124 km, 3 Hours) is the nearest major station with connecting trains to the rest of India.

To See 

Parshuram Kund - It’s a religious site for Hindus situated on the Brahmaputra plateau. Every year during Maker Sakranti people from all over India & sadhus visits this place to take a dip in the water to remove all their sins. The Parshuram Kund is a 46 km (1.5 hours) drive away from Tezu.

Dong - It's a village in the easternmost part of India with the most spectacular sunrise in the early morning. It's surrounded by some magnificent valleys which are very scenic. Dong is about 200 km and 7 hours drive from Tezu.
Glow Lake - It's a picturesque lake with lush greenery &mountains in the backdrop. The lake is part of Kamlang Sanctuary and can be approached only by foot.
Some of the nearest cities or towns to Tezu are Digboi (114 Kms), Dibrugarh (176 Kms), and Tinsukia (127 Kms).
