Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Manebhanjyang

Upon arrival at NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport, you'll be driven to Manebhanjyang, a quaint village nestled at an altitude of 1,929 meters. The journey takes around 3 hours (81 km) and follows the scenic Mirik-Darjeeling road along the India-Nepal border. Check in to your hotel and spend the evening at leisure, acclimatizing to the altitude.

Overnight: Manebhanjyang

Day 2: Trek from Maneybhanjang to Tumling (11 km, 5 hours)

The trek starts from Maneybhanjang, a vibrant village known for its markets and strategic location near the Indo-Nepal border. After your guide arranges the necessary permits, you’ll begin with a steep 2 km ascent to Chitrey. From Chitrey, the trail evens out, taking you through scenic ridges to Lameydhura and Meghma before reaching Tumling.

Maneybhanjang to Chitrey: 2.5 km (steep ascent)
Chitrey to Lameydhura: 2.8 km
Lameydhura to Meghma: 3 km
Meghma to Tumling: 2 km

Tip: Carry enough water and energy snacks for the day as the initial steep ascent can be challenging for first-time trekkers.

Day 3: Trek from Tumling to Kalipokhari (12.5 km, 6 hours)

Wake up to a magnificent view of the Kanchenjunga range. After breakfast, the trek takes you through Joubari in Nepal and then to Gairibans (2,621 meters). The route passes through beautiful bamboo groves and farmland. Post lunch at Gairibans, a steep climb leads to Kaiyakanta, followed by a relatively easier walk to Kalipokhari.

Joubari to Gairibans: 2.5 km
Gairibans to Kaiyakanta: 2.3 km (steep ascent)
Kaiyakanta to Kalipokhari: 4 km

Day 4: Trek from Kalipokhari to Sandakphu (5.5 km, 4 hours)

From Kalipokhari, the route diverges between the Nepal and Indian sides, leading to Bikhebhanjang. The final 3 km ascent from Bikhebhanjang to Sandakphu is the toughest section of this trek, with an altitude gain of 1,500 feet. Sandakphu (3,636 meters) offers breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga and Everest ranges. The area is rich with rhododendron and silver fir forests, enhancing the scenic appeal.

Day 5: Trek from Sandakphu to Sabargram (13 km, 5 hours)

Begin a relaxed trek to Sabargram, with no major changes in elevation. En route, visit the picturesque Thokum Valley, known for its lush rhododendron and primula forests. The stunning Kanchenjunga massif accompanies you throughout the day’s trek.

Sandakphu to Thokum Valley: 7.1 km
Thokum Valley to Sabargram: 5.8 km

Overnight: Sabargram or Moley

Day 6: Trek from Sabargram to Phalut (7 km, 3 hours)

Today’s trek is one of the most scenic stretches, taking you through silver fir and rhododendron forests. The relatively easy walk along the ridge leads to Phalut (3,600 meters), a high peak in the Singalila range. Enjoy the tranquility of Phalut’s remote landscape.

Overnight: Phalut

Day 7: Trek from Phalut to Gorkhey (9 km, 4 hours)

From Phalut, begin a steady descent through virgin forests of chestnut, pines, and hemlock, eventually reaching the stream at Gorkhey Khola. This charming village is a perfect place to rest and enjoy a refreshing bath in the stream.

Overnight: Gorkhey

Tip: Take care on the descent to avoid undue strain on your knees.

Day 8: Trek from Gorkhey to Sepi (12 km, 6 hours)

Today’s trek is relatively moderate, with a gradual descent from Gorkhey to Rammam. The trail continues to Srikhola, and from there, a short walk takes you to Sepi Gaon, marking the end of the trek.

Overnight: Sepi Gaon

Tip: Look out for birds and wildlife as you pass through the forests around Rammam.

Day 9: Sepi Gaon to Darjeeling by Car (58 km, 3 hours)

After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive from Sepi Gaon to Darjeeling via Lodhama and Bijanbari. Check into your hotel in Darjeeling and relax for the evening.

Overnight: Darjeeling

Day 10: Departure from Darjeeling

Start early to witness the stunning sunrise from Tiger Hill. Visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop on your return to Darjeeling. After breakfast, drive to NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport to conclude your journey.

Tip: Reserve some time to explore Darjeeling’s local markets before departure.
