EHTTOA was invited by the Parliamentary Commitee to participate in the development of the state Tourism at R J Resort, Darjeeling along with other stake holders of the entire North East India.

Tourism is an important economic lifeline of Darjeeling but there should first be proper flow of infrastructure for transport and culture that would eventually lead to the development of tourism.

A range of issues in connection with the development of the three hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling i.e. Kalimpong, Kurseong and Mirik was discussed with concrete recommendations and suggestions.

He spoke in his capacity as the chairperson of the parliamentary standing committee on transport, tourism and culture along with other ministers.

There was a meetings with senior district and state officials and tourism stakeholders also before and after the meeting with EHTTOA.

The area can develop as you have various (tourism) hubs in the region or develop new ones.He said that the possibilities and potentials are tremendous. 

The point is to translate dreams into reality. Recommendations that the 13-member parliamentary team might make in its report public soon ......... lot of issues were discussed today …

  • Beautifying the Mirik lake 
  • Ropeway were to be introduced at various places

  • Development of other projects 
  • Development of overall Infrastructure
  • Issues related to Vehicle permit was discussed
