Roing – The Gateway to the Dibang Valley

Roing is a serene town known for its untouched natural beauty, friendly tribal culture, and proximity to high mountain passes. It serves as the headquarters of the Lower Dibang Valley District and is the gateway to Anini and the upper reaches of the Dibang Valley.

Perched at an altitude of about 390 meters above sea level, Roing lies beside the glistening Deopani River, surrounded by dense forests and rolling hills. The journey into the misty Eastern Himalayas begins the moment you cross the river and enter this charming town of around 12,000 residents — predominantly from the Mishmi and Adi tribes.

Getting There

By Air & Rail:
The nearest major airport and railway station are located at Dibrugarh in Assam, about 150 km away (a 4-hour drive). Regular flights connect Dibrugarh to Guwahati, Kolkata, and Delhi, making Roing relatively easy to access from the rest of India.

By Road:
From Dibrugarh, travellers can reach Roing via Tinsukia and Sadiya, crossing the Bhupen Hazarika Setu (Dhola–Sadiya Bridge) — India’s longest river bridge. The scenic drive along the Brahmaputra plains and foothill forests is a journey in itself.
